CHURCH
HISTORY
LECTURES - Update
For a number of
reasons I have relinquished responsibility for arranging the Church History
Lectures at RUGBY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH
. Arranging the Lectures over the last few years (2001 -
2008) has been an immense privilege and something I have very very much
enjoyed.
At present it's a
little unclear whether they will continue - but the responsibility could well be taken
up by another Church in the area. They may continue then, in some form but
at another venue.
I would like to
thank the Elders at REFC for allowing me the freedom to arrange the lectures,
suggest titles to, and contact speakers. Contacting speakers has also given me
the added privilege of getting to know the speakers a little - some for the first time
- and I
think it a great providence that some have also become good friends.
It has been my
burden to ensure as best I can that speakers and topics truly represent the
Reformed faith though I do of course recognise the differing doctrinal
distinctions within Reformed theology.
I must admit to not
having thought of it in quite this way, but after the last lecture I received
a very kind letter that said 'You have made an important contribution to the
life of the Churches in this area, and the Lord has blessed it.' If that
is true, then it only proves the maxim that The Lord is able, and more often
than not 'draws a straight line with a crooked stick'. The Lord be
praised.
